We participated in an event on 29 February organised by Manchester University's Students Union titled 'Recognise Refugee Rights: Syria'. After the audience watched the documentary 'Departing: Arrivals' which interviews new Syrian refugees to Manchester, the audience heard from:
Hafsah Nibe: Filmmaker
Dr. Rachel Calam: Professor of Child and Family Psychology at Manchester University
Yasmine Nahlawi: Advocacy and Policy Coordinator at Rethink Rebuild Society
We spoke about the political situation in Syria before and after the revolution, highlighting the brutal dictatorship that ruled Syria for the past five decades which forced people to revolt. Thank you to the Students Union and to everyone who attended, it was so heartwarming to see so much support for Syria!
