Great night with Bachar Zarkan: The Hallaj of Hope

On Sunday 8th of July, Fans of Sufi art enjoyed a night of singing and devotion with Syrian singer Bachar Zarkan who sang verses from the divine poetry of famous Arab poets like Ibn Arabi, Ibn Al-Faridh, and Al-Hallaj and extended their rich legacy to the work of contemporary poet and literary icon Mahmoud Darwish.
Zarkanโ€™s Damascus roots bring with them an enthralling blend of Syrian and Egyptian musical heritage, which together with styles such as the Iraqi maqam, carry an innovative expressivity and bring a remarkable distinction to an already astonishing musical culture.
